1956 – 2012

Elizabeth Nana Otoo Forbes  nee Otoo was born on July 1956  in Cape Coast to Mary and Eric Otoo.  Her father Ambassador Eric Otoo was a career diplomat and therefore Elizabeth spent her growing years in Ghana, Kenya and Germany before ending up in England and Hungary where she studied medicine finally specializing in Immunology working the labs as a researcher immunologist for the World Health Organisation in the Gambia.  In 1989, she founded a school called The Covenant School, in Fajikunda, a legacy that she left the country she called her home for many years. As part of supporting the community Dr. Forbes encouraged students and provided scholarships.  The NanaSunbeam Scholarship was set up by her daughter Njillan upon the passing of Dr Forbes for female students to pursue senior high education.
