Sulley Ali  Muntari is a retired Ghanaian professional footballer who played as a midfielder.  Sulley was born in Konongo, Ghana on the 27th of August 1984.

He began his professional football career in Italy, playing for Udinese before moving to Inter Milan, AC Milan and Pescara. After over fifty matches for Udinese, he joined Portsmouth and Sunderland Clubs in England.  Other teams include Al-Ittihad in Saudi Arabi and Deportivo La Coruna in Spain.

Muntari played regularly for the Ghana national team playing in three FIFA World Cups and four Africa Cup of Nations tournaments.  He was popular for his powerful shots, and versatile approach to the game and regarded as a top African midfielder.  Sulley’s philanthropic work includes the Sulley Muntari Foundation which supports education and health initiatives in Ghana. He’s very keen on promoting anti-racism campaigns in football.  He retired in 2021 but has continued to be involved in the sport as a coach and mentor to young players.
