Grace Adubea Orleans was born to Rose Twumwaa Ofosu-Barko and Samuel Ransford Ofosu-Baroko on Saturday 6th August 1932.  A gifted child, Mathematics was one of her favourite subjects.  She enrolled at the Presbyterian Primary School in Somanya from 1938-142 and continued Middle School at the Krobo Girls Boarding School from 1943 to 1947 after which she attended Aburi Girls Secondary School from 1948 to 1951.

In Form 4, she was selected to attempt the Cambridge/O Level examination with the Form 5 class and she excelled.  She completed her post-secondary teacher training in 1953 and was posted to Kumasi where she taught for a few years before leaving the Gold Coast to the United Kingdom to study law.  Grace was admitted as a student of Grays Inn on the 30th of October 1959 and called to the Bar on the 5th of February 1963.  She was called to the Ghana Bar on the 31st of August 1963.

Grace’s law career started with her as an Assistant State Attorney, at the Attorney General’s Department of the Ministry of Justice in 1964.  Through her hard work, she rose to become State Attorney, Senior State Attorney, Principal State Attorney, Chief State Attorney and obtained the high office of Solicitor General in 1994.  Grace Orleans made history as the first female Solicitor General in the republic of Ghana.  She was a member of several boards National Council on Women and Development, Ghana Airways, Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC),  Lands Commission, Aburi Girls Secondary School and as the Board Chair of Ghana Civil Aviation Authority and African Timber and Plywood Ltd.
