Oheneba Nana Yaw Boamah is a Ghanaian fashion designer and the creative director of Abrantie the Gentleman, a bespoke fashion brand based in Ghana. Born to Samuel Osei Boamah and Angela Owusu Agyei in Accra, Boamah’s educational journey began at Prince of Peace International School for his basic education. He then proceeded to Koforidua Senior High Technical School for his secondary studies before earning a degree in Industrial Arts, with a major in Textiles, from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.

 

After university, Boamah launched the Abrantie brand. Between 2006 and 2012, he gained valuable experience working with textile companies such as Texstyle Ghana Limited (GTP) and Ghana Textiles Manufacturing Company (GTMC). Under the Abrantie the Gentleman brand, Boamah has created seven distinct fashion collections: A-Look, Our Heritage, Alewa, Checkables, Ayeyi, G’Man, and Adehyie.

 

His work has been showcased on prestigious platforms including Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, Glitz Africa Fashion Week in Ghana, Durban Fashion Fair in South Africa, Samsung Fashion Meets Gadget Show, Africa International Fashion Week in Nigeria, South African Menswear Week in Cape Town and Expo 2015.

Boamah’s talent has earned him several accolades:

  • Nominated for Menswear Designer of the Year at the 2018 Glitz Style Awards
  • Won Designer of the Year at the 2015 Glitz Style Awards
  • Nominated as African Designer of the Year at the 2017 Glitz Africa Awards
  • Awarded Fashion Personality of the Year at the 2017 40 under 40 Awards
  • His brand, Abrantie, won Fashion Designer of the Year at the 2017 Exclusive Men of the Year (EMYs) Africa Awards
  • Nominated for Designer of the Year (Men’s Wear) at the 2017 West African Fashion Awards
  • Abrantie won the Fashion Icons Award.
