Jonathan Kwegyir Aggrey was born on the 5th of September 1984 in Ashaiman.  From when he was about five years old, Jonathan knew that he wanted to be an artist.  He was lucky in that his family and friends supported this vision.  His primary education was at the Ashaiman Presbyterian School, and he then attended the Ashaiman Secondary School.  Jonathan has a bachelor’s degree in art education which he obtained from the University of Winneba.

One can say that Jonathan Kwegyir Aggrey is one of the foremost water colorists in Africa if not the world.  This son of Ghana has brought his art to the international scene in a big way.

His work has been showcased globally with exhibitions across the world, Colombia, China, France, Spain and the United States of America.  Jonathan is the only African to be a part of the Annual American Watercolour Society in New York.  This was a high moment in Jonathan’s art journey.  His work is also displayed in the Qingdao Art Museum in China.  Jonathan is also a member of the Art Society Advisory Committee.  He has taught at schools such as Achimota and the University of Education in Winneba.  Several awards have been presented to Jonathan from the Holbein Watercolour Competition held in Turkey to the Prix des Peintres du Moulin Award in France.  He has also been invited to hold workshops in France, Spain and China.  His knowledge has been shared with artists in other countries thus bringing recognition to his motherland Ghana and adding value and knowledge to the lives of global artists.
