Betty Acquah is one of the foremost female painters in Ghana.  She was born on the 20th of March 1965.  A native of Cape Coast in the Central Region of Accra she attended two premiere schools, Wesley Girls and Holy Child, all in Cape Coast.

She also attended the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology obtaining her first and master’s degrees in visual arts with specialization in painting.  Betty also obtained a special arts certification in Japan from the Tokyo School of Art.   She uses the techniques of pointillism, oil painting and acrylic. She worked for seven years for the Centre for National Culture in Accra and as a curator for private art galleries.  She is a member of the Ghana Association of Visual Artists.  Her work highlights Ghanaian women who she sees as the unsung heroines for the republic of Ghana.
